Everybody knows that dogs are loyal buddies who’ll do anything for you (without the snooty superiority of cats), but assistance dogs definitely go above and beyond normal doggie duties. Not only will they provide cuddles, companionship, and kisses, but they’ll also help their human companions with disabilities and essential tasks, like helping a blind person navigate the outdoors or bring a phone to a person in a wheelchair.
And that’s why International Assistance Dog Week (IADW) was created—to recognize all of the assistance dogs who are hardworking and dedicated to helping their person mitigate the limitations caused by their disabilities.
