ARF! Team Application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with our ARF! (Animals + Reading = Fun!) literacy program. We are always eager to have therapy dog teams join us to help children in our community become better readers!

In order to become an ARF! therapy dog team, you will need to complete the following steps:

Step 1:  Complete our five-week therapy dog class ($125)
Step 2:  Complete an independent evaluation with a Love on a Leash certified dog trainer ($45)
Step 3:  Complete a TB test and LiveScan background check (no cost)
Step 4:  Complete a two-hour volunteer training workshop (no cost)

Once you have completed Steps 1-4, you can begin volunteering at one of our partner school or library sites. For the first 10 visits, you and your dog will be considered a “therapy dog team in training” as you work toward your therapy dog certification with Love on a Leash, a national organization that certifies dogs as therapy dogs.

All For Animals will provide you with all the tools necessary to become a registered therapy dog team. As an ARF! team member, you will receive a t-shirt, tote bag, dog blanket and bandana for your dog to wear each week as well as “business card” photos of your dog to give out to the children.

Please Note:  Since we invest a significant amount of time and resources to train and support our volunteers, we ask that all team members make a minimum commitment of 20 hours volunteering with ARF! during one calendar year.

Thank you again for your interest in joining ARF! Please complete the following application to get started helping children in our community become better readers!
